Democratic Party officially certifies Kamala Harris as nominee
Harris will now officially face former President Donald Trump in November.
Vice President Kamala Harris became the official Democratic nominee for president on Tuesday, the party's chairman Jaime Harrison announced.
Harris was previously the presumptive nominee after President Joe Biden dropped his bid for reelection last month, and endorsed her candidacy. A virtual roll call was held to confirm her last week.
"It’s official! I just signed the paperwork to certify Vice President @KamalaHarris for the ballot as our Democratic Party nominee for president," Harrison posted to X. "Let’s make history this November!"
