GOP's Kiggans defeats Democratic Rep. Luria in Virginia

The result of this race has been considered a sign of how other Democratic incumbents will perform in other swing districts.

Democratic incumbent Rep. Elaine Luria on Tuesday night lost her reelection bid to Republican state Sen. Jen Kiggans in the closely watched race in Virginia's 2nd Congressional District.

Luria, a member of the House Select Committee on Jan. 6, was defeated 52% to 47% with 98% of precincts reporting, according to the Virginia Board of Elections. 

The result of this race has been considered a sign of how other Democratic incumbents will perform in other swing districts.
