DeSantis campaign says media's early Iowa caucus Trump victory call was 'election interference'
"The media is in the tank for Trump and this is the most egregious example yet," says the campaign
The presidential campaign of Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., said on Monday night that it was "outrageous" for the mainstream media to call the Iowa caucus for former President Trump so early.
Less than 1% of the results were in when outlets including CNN and the Associated Press called for the race for Trump.
"It is absolutely outrageous that the media would participate in election interference by calling the race before tens of thousands of Iowans even had a chance to vote. The media is in the tank for Trump and this is the most egregious example yet," said DeSantis Campaign Communications Director Andrew Romeo in a statement.
Trump said he was "greatly honored by such an early call" after he was declared the winner.
"We have to get our country back," he said, according to Fox News. "Our country has gone through so many bad things over the last three years and it is continuing to go through bad things."
