DeSantis: GOP voters would renominate Trump if he was eligible for third term, not Romney-type
DeSantis: "if we had a primary or caucus tomorrow with Republican voters, they would vote to renominate Trump again if he was eligible. I don't think it would even be close."
Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis said on Saturday that President Trump would win the GOP presidential nomination if was eligible to run for president again and the party should never go back to a Mitt Romney-type candidate.
"I hear these people like going back to Mitt Romney," he said. "No, that's not happening."
He continued by saying that a Trump-like candidate is still the direction the GOP should go in, despite the loss of Congress to the Democrats.
"If we had a primary or caucus tomorrow with Republican voters, they would vote to renominate Trump again if he was eligible. I don't think it would even be close," he said.
