Florida state GOP endorses Trump as former president steams toward nomination

Endorsement comes after Trump handily won first three primary contests of 2024, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis dropped from race.

The Florida Republican Party announced Saturday it is endorsing former President Donald Trump as he steams toward securing his third straight nomination for president.

“Florida stands with President @realDonaldTrump!,” the party said in a statement on the X social media platform.

“Today, the Florida GOP proudly endorsed Trump for President. It is time Republicans come together to DEFEAT Biden and save the future of our nation,” it added.

The decision for the entire party to endorse Trump occurred at the state GOP convention on Friday and was announced the next day.

It comes after Trump handily won the first three presidential primary contests of 2024, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis dropped from the race.
