Ex-Boris Johnson adviser predicts UK conservatives face 'massacre' in upcoming election
The United Kingdom is holding its elections on July 4.
A former adviser to ex-British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is predicting that conservatives in the United Kingdom will lose terribly in the upcoming July election.
"I mean, it's looking like a massacre for the conservatives.....which many of us are going to cheer on," political strategist Thomas Corbett-Dillon told the John Solomon Reports podcast this week. "They deserve it."
The United Kingdom is holding its elections on July 4, America's Independence Day.
The conservatives currently hold the majority in the U.K. Parliament, but many expect that to change within the next month. Corbett-Dillon said British voters are poised to to punish conservatives, including current Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, because they have not delivered for years on the pledges they made to get elected.
"You cannot get elected on promises, and then not do what the people want you to do," Corbett-Dillon said. "They deserve to lose their seats."
According to Corbett-Dillon, while many in the U.K. are conservative, they aren't happy with the current leadership.
"Hopefully they're (U.K. politicians) are gonna start changing their tune, and maybe we'll see the Conservatives become more like the Republicans, but I'm not holding out hope," he said.
