Former Rep. Zeldin says Republicans will lose if they don't get on board with early voting
"We have to work harder than we have today," Lee Zeldin said.
Former New York GOP Rep. Lee Zeldin said Tuesday that if Republicans don't get on board with early voting, they will lose by a huge margin in the upcoming election.
"We will not even come close November 5 if we are not leaning into what is the law of that state," he said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show.
He referenced the state of Pennsylvania, which has universal mail-in balloting, and how other states have legalized ballot harvesting.
"Some Republicans might say, 'well let's just boycott it because we disagree with ballot harvesting,'" Zeldin said. "I disagree with ballot harvesting. It shouldn't be legal. But guess what? If you legalize it in my state, I want to do ballot harvesting better than the Democrats."
While the GOP has been slower to get on board with early voting and ballot harvesting where it is legal, prominent GOP leaders, including former President Donald Trump, have announced support for it.
Zeldin said that Republican voters need to know the election laws in the state.
"We have to work harder tomorrow than we are today," he said.
