GOP candidate for Pennsylvania governor runs to voter-integrity platform

A Republican candidate for Pennsylvania governor is running on a voter-integrity focused platform that includes his vow to, if elected, call a special legislative session on the issue on his first day in office.

"My Pennsylvania Election Integrity Reform Plan will ensure justice for all Pennsylvania voters," candidate Jake Corman said Thursday in announcing his proposed initiative. "Gov. Tom Wolf has repeatedly played politics with our elections and ignored state laws. My plan will restore integrity to our elections by ensuring every vote is secured."

Corman also plans to implement voter ID, eliminate drop boxes and no-excuse mail-in voting, and ban private funding of public elections, according to WHTM-TV, an ABC affiliate in Harrisburg. 

He also plans to require all legal challenges to election results before certifying races and prohibit so-called "Zuckerbucks" – the name critics have given the roughly $350 million Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg gave a liberal-leaning nonprofit in 2020 in a way, they say, unfairly influence elections that year and lacked transparency.

The GOP primary field includes nine candidates including former Pennsylvania Rep. Lou Barletta.
