Harris campaign looks to sway Republican voters after landing recent GOP endorsements
Former GOP Reps. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois and Liz Cheney of Wyoming have recently endorsed Harris over former President Donald Trump, along with Jimmy McCain, the son of the late Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain.
Vice President Kamala Harris's presidential campaign is hoping to sway Republican voters this November via new outreach programs, now that it has secured endorsements from several conservative figures.
Former GOP Reps. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois and Liz Cheney of Wyoming recently endorsed Harris over former President Donald Trump, along with Jimmy McCain, the son of the late Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain.
Additionally, more than 200 former aides to Republican presidents have endorsed Harris, and half a dozen Republicans spoke at the Democratic convention in Chicago this summer, including former Trump White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham.
"We are proud of the bipartisan groundswell behind Vice President Harris," Harris campaign spokesperson Ian Sams told Fox News on Thursday. "And we will continue working every day to earn the support of Republican voters who want a president like her who still believes in patriotism, freedom, and our Constitution."
Harris's campaign has already launched a "Republicans for Harris" program, and hired a "National Republican Engagement Director" who is in charge of reaching out to Independent voters and moderate Republicans.
The focus comes after Trump secured support from former Democrats Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who have since become part of Trump's transition team.
"Kamala’s team is desperately grasping at straws because they are threatened by President Trump’s endorsements from influential former Democrats like RFK Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard," Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt told Fox. "No conservative in their right mind will be voting for radical Marxist, weak-on-crime, open border, high tax Kamala Harris."
