House GOP Leader: Biden should apologize for describing Trump's MAGA as 'semi-fascism'
"You worry that your children will have less opportunity than you did yet they tell you that things are looking up," McCarthy says in Pa. ahead of Biden's appearance in Philadelphia on Thursday evening.
House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy called on President Biden to apologize for describing former President Trump's political philosophy as "semi-fascism."
He also said Washington D.C. politicians and the White House aren't listening to the American people.
"You worry that your children will have less opportunity than you did, yet they tell you that things are looking up," McCarthy said during a speech in Scranton, Pa. ahead of Biden's appearance in Philadelphia on Thursday evening.
McCarthy said the U.S. is less safe and less free under Biden.
"Yet, they tell you the border is secure," he said, arguing that Biden, Pelosi and Schumer have created the "worst" illegal immigration crisis the U.S. has seen. "Our border is now wide open."
McCarthy also said the cartels are controlling the border.
"Every American city is now a border city," he said.
Referring to the amount of fentanyl coming into the U.S., McCarthy said that "Biden's open border policy is killing Americans."
McCarthy recalled the White House telling the public that inflation is transitory.
"Yet, you know that doesn't add up," he said. "I don't dismiss your fears, I share them."
He emphasized that Democrats control Congress and the White House but the economy has entered a recession.
The California Republican also said Biden is "begging" foreign countries for energy after former President Trump made the U.S. energy independent.
McCarthy said a Republican majority in Congress could help get the country back on track.
"Our best days are ahead of us, not behind us," he said.
McCarthy addressed the effects of the pandemic and said more Americans died of COVID under Biden than Trump.
Biden recently described Trump's political philosophy as "semi-fascism" at a fundraiser.
“What we’re seeing now is either the beginning or the death knell of extreme MAGA philosophy,” Biden said. “It’s not just Trump, it’s the entire philosophy that underpins the — I’m going to say something, it’s like semi-fascism."
McCarthy said Biden should "apologize" for demeaning tens of millions of Americans as "fascists."
