Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance on Wednesday used his strongest condemnation yet of Vice President Kamala Harris's role in the Afghanistan withdrawal.

Harris has stated that she was the "last person in the room" when President Joe Biden abruptly ordered all United States troops in Afghanistan to return home.

Vance claimed that 13 U.S. service members died in the bombing at Abbey Gate because the Democratic presidential hopeful "failed to do her job."

“Sometimes mistakes happen — that’s just the nature of government, the nature of military service," Vance said during remarks in Erie, Pennsylvania. "But to have those 13 Americans lose their lives and not fire a single person is disgraceful. Kamala Harris is disgraceful."

He went on to observe that if Republicans want to talk about Abbey Gate, they need to talk about how Harris is "asleep at the wheel."

"She won’t even do an investigation into what happened, and she wants to yell at Donald Trump because he showed up," Vance said, per NBC News. "She can, she can go to hell.”

The comment comes after Harris on Monday praised Biden's decision to pull out of Afghanistan, and promised to "care for our troops and their families." Monday was the third anniversary of the Afghanistan withdrawal.
