Laxalt wins Nevada's GOP Senate primary

Laxalt now faces incumbent Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, considered among the most vulnerable Democrat senators this election cycle

Adam Laxalt, a former Nevada attorney general, won the state's GOP primary for a Senate seat.

The race was called after midnight Tuesday by the Associated Press.

Laxalt defeated retired Army Capt. Sam Brown and several other candidate, after having led throughout the campaign. He now faces incumbent Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, considered among the most vulnerable Democrat senators this election cycle.
