California Gov. Gavin Newsom says Joe Biden should seek reelection

California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom told reporters that President Joe Biden should run for reelection.

"Of course, yes, and I would support him in a nanosecond enthusiastically, passionately," Newsom said after accepting the Frank Newman Award for State Innovation from the Education Commission of the States.

There has been speculation that Newsom would throw his hat in the ring should Biden not run for reelection, setting up a potential Democratic primary battle between him and Vice President Kamala Harris, a former California senator.

Newsom met with first lady Jill Biden at the White House prior to attending the education conference.
