Pence inching closer to 2024 run, saying he prefers somebody more than Trump, 'I’ll keep you posted'
Pence was asked if he would vote for Trump in 2024.
Former Vice President Mike Pence appears to be inching closer to a 2024 presidential, saying he prefers someone other than former President Donald Trump.
Pence's comment was in response to a question about whether he would vote for Trump again should he compete in the next election cycle.
"Well, there might be somebody else I'd prefer more," Pence replied, drawing some laugher and applause from the audience at Georgetown University.
"What I can tell you is, I have every confidence that the Republican Party is going to sort out leadership. All my focus has been on the midterm elections, and it’ll stay that way for the next 20 days. But after that, we’ll be thinking about the future, ours and the nation’s, and I’ll keep you posted."
Trump has been publicly critical of Pence for not blocking the certification of the Electoral College votes in key states on Jan. 6, 2021.
Pence has been traveling to early presidential primary states campaigning for candidates running in the 2022 midterm election coming up on Nov. 8.
