In Alaska, Murkowski advances in Senate race, Palin in House

In the Alaska elections Tuesday, GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski advanced in the state's Senate primary, and Republican Sarah Palin advanced in a state's House primary.

Murkowski advanced from her primary along with Kelly Tshibaka, who was endorsed by former President Trump.

Palin, another Trump-backed candidate, also advanced to the November general election in the race for Alaska’s only House seat.

Palin was also competing with several candidate in a special election for the House seat, held by late-GOP Rep. Don Young. The results of that race are not expected to be fully tabulated until later this month.

Palin, the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee and a former Alaska governor, is looking to make a political comeback by competing for the House seat.

Twenty-two candidates, of all political affiliations, were in the primary, with the top four advancing to the general election.

Murkowski, who has held the Senate seat for roughly 20 years, was one of 19 candidates of all political affiliations running in this year’s primary.
