AOC, two other 'Squad' members back Biden
Ocasio-Cortez said she spoke with the president "extensively" and supports him staying in the race.
House Democrats in the chamber's progressive caucus known as the "Squad" are backing President Biden after his shaky June 27 debate that resulted in calls from within their party for him to end his reelection bid.
Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, New York; lhan Omar, Minnesota; and Ayanna Pressley, Massachusetts, all have publicly said they support Biden in the aftermath of the debate.
Ocasio-Cortez said she spoke with the president "extensively" and supports him staying in the race.
"Joe Biden is our nominee. He is not leaving this race. He is in this race and I support him," said the congresswoman, an influential voice within her party, particularly its progressive wing.
Omar said that aside from a few outliers, most Democrats are still supporting Biden's reelection bid.
