Prominent pollster and strategic consultant John McLaughlin this week referred to Democrat-turned-Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as a "Trojan horse" in the political sphere.

"He's got a long career as a left-winger and the RFK fund or foundation... whatever they have... his wife still on the board and Obama's an advisor," McLaughlin said on the "John Solomon Reports" podcast. "They've got all these left wing positions, and they're trying to portray him as this Maverick who's right of center. He's a Trojan horse. He's a Trojan horse and now they're trying to say he's taking from Trump. He's not."

He went on to highlight some of Kennedy's left-wing positions, such as banning fossil fuels and opposition to the death penalty.

"For some reason the Biden people see him as a threat and they want to try to portray him as being like Trump somehow and he's not," McLaughlin said.

Earlier this month, members of the Kennedy family endorsed Biden at a campaign event in Philadelphia, among them being Kennedy Jr.'s sister Kerry Kennedy.

Kennedy recently secured enough signatures to get on the Arizona and Georgia ballots. Last week, he qualified to appear on the ballot in Michigan.

He dropped out of the Democratic presidential primary last year to run as an independent candidate.
