Rashida Tlaib: Only Bernie Sanders can take on the corporate establishment
Former Vice President Joe Biden won the majority of the Super Tuesday primary states, taking frontrunner status from Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.)
As the Democratic establishment rallies around former Vice President Joe Biden, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) called Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) a "once-in-a-lifetime" candidate who is the only one in the race not accepting "corporate dollars."
Former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) dropped out of the race and endorsed Biden ahead of Tuesday's primary elections. Former Vice President Joe Biden won the majority of the Super Tuesday primary states, taking frontrunner status from Sanders. Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has also suspended his campaign and backed Biden.
Following the Super Tuesday results, Tlaib was asked her for opinion of the Democratic establishments treatment of Sanders.
"You should just know I have the third poorest congressional district in the country and we really, really right now need someone that doesn’t take corporate dollars and right now that’s only Senator Sanders," Tlaib said Wednesday on Capitol Hill.
"So we’re excited in that we finally have a once-in-a-lifetime presidential candidate that is inspiring people for the first time to come out and vote. I just hope people understand the importance of the Tuesday primary election in Michigan," she added.
