Georgia Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker on Thursday pulled just ahead of Democratic incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock according to a key polling index, a sign that the Democrat's fortunes may be reversing less than half a month until election day.

RealClearPolitics's poll average for the Georgia Senate race put Walker at 46.8 compared to Warnock's 46.2, a bare margin of advantage that comes after weeks of the two candidates approaching each other in polling numbers.

Warnock in early October had soared far above Walker on that average amid a wave of scandals and negative publicity surrounding allegations that the Republican had facilitated abortions for several women in the past.

Yet Warnock began to drop precipitously in the polls in mid-October while Walker stayed largely flat, narrowing the gap between the two. In roughly the past week Walker's numbers began to rise as Warnock's continued to decline.

RealClearPolitics ranks the race as a "toss up" and predicts it will be close enough to be thrown to a runoff on Dec. 6 as per Georgia election rules.
