Recount confirms Texas Democrat Rep. Cuellar wins runoff against progressive challenger Cisneros

Cuellar represents the 28th Congressional District, in the southern part of the state

A recount confirms Texas Democrat Rep. Henry Cuellar won his primary runoff, the Texas state party said Tuesday.

The recount concluded Tuesday with Cuellar, among the House Democrat Conference's most conservative members, picked up eight votes against progressive challenger Jessica Cisneros, according to the Texas Tribune.

Cuellar represents the 28th Congressional District, in the southern part of the state. The recount shows Cuellar defeated Cisneros by 289 votes.
