Sen. Rick Scott: Democrat Georgia Senate candidates 'just puppets' for Schumer and Pelosi
Stacey Abrams and Ocasio-Cortez are among the Democrats raising substantial amounts of money for the Georgia Senate runoff elections
Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott called the Democratic Senate candidates in Georgia, Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, "puppets" for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer.
"Their [the Republicans] opponents are basically just puppets for Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer," Scott said Friday while campaigning for the Republican Senate candidates in Cumming, Ga. "So if you vote for their opponent you are basically voting for all the bad things AOC, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer all believe in."
Scott referred to Schumer saying the Democrats will change the country if they take Georgia.
"Not in Georgia, not today," Scott said. "They want to take away everybody's private health care option. They want the Green New Deal which will kill our economy. They want to defund the police -- that's right, hell no, and they believe in socialism."
Incumbent Republican Sen. David Perdue is running against Ossoff, the head of an investigative television production company, in a runoff election in January. Incumbent Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler is running against Democrat the Rev. Raphael Warnock in a runoff election as well. So far, the GOP has 50 seats in the Senate compared to 48 for the Democrats so the results of the Georgia races will determine Senate control for next year.
Loeffler and Perdue participated in a joint "save our majority" rally on Friday and warned that Democrats would seek to pack the Supreme Court if they win control of the Senate. They also said Democrats would support sanctuary city policies and allow "open borders." Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has said he would end construction of the additional border barriers that are underway.
"Georgia is the last line of defense against the Democrats radical socialist agenda. They want to fundamentally change the direction of our country," Perdue wrote Friday on Twitter.
"Georgia, we’re the firewall," Loeffler wrote.
Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted about helping to raise $280,000 for the Senate races in Georgia.
Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, founder of Fair Fight, a voting rights organization, recently helped raise $3.6 million.
