Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell acknowledges Biden victory
“Our country has officially a president-elect and a vice president-elect,” McConnel said.
Sen Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday congratulated Biden on winning the presidential election.
“I want to congratulate President-elect Joe Biden,” McConnell said on the Senate floor. “Many of us had hoped the presidential election would yield a different result…. But our system of government has the processes to determine who will be sworn in on Jan. 20. The Electoral College has spoken.”
He made the congratulations after a long speech praising President Trump's accomplishments during his four years in office.
McConnell's recognition of Biden as president-elect comes one day after the Electoral College vote and as Trump continues with voter fraud allegations.
“Our country has officially a president-elect and a vice president-elect,” McConnel said.
