In teaser video, Carlson asks Trump: 'Are you worried that they’re going to try and kill you?'
In debate night interview, Trump says Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell is trying to get senators to support impeaching him
Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson asked former President Trump in their GOP primary debate night interview if he has concerns about critics perhaps trying to kill him – after two impeachments and several indictments.
“It started with protests against you and then it moved to impeachment twice and now indictment. Are you worried that they’re going to try and kill you?" Carlson asked Trump in the short teaser video posted on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Wednesday evening. "Why wouldn’t they try and kill you? Honestly.”
Trump responded: “They’re savage animals. They’re people that are sick."
Trump was also asked whether he thinks the country is moving toward a civil war. Trump's response is not shown in the teaser.
Trump said in the interview that his critics are going to try steal the 2024 election from him.
"They're trying. They're going to be trying," he said, adding that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was "trying to get senators to impeach me" before.
Carlson and Trump reportedly pre-taped the interview at Trump's club in Bedminster, N.J. It is set to air on X during the first GOP presidential primary debate.
During the interview, Trump predicted "better ratings" for the X interview compared to the live GOP debate, sponsored by the Fox News Channel.
