Thomas Massie files to run in 2028 for Kentucky House seat following primary loss
Massie explained that the move will allow him to raise funds to continue is political operations supporting his position as a current office holder and as a potential candidate for federal office.
Republican Rep. Thomas Massie has filed paperwork with the Federal Elections Commission to run in the 2028 race for his Kentucky House seat, he said Monday.
Massie, a contrarian in the House GOP caucus, was targeted for defeat by President Trump and was ousted in his May 19 primary by Trump-backed challenger Ed Gallrein.
"This allows me to raise funds to continue my political operations supporting my position as a current office holder and as a potential candidate for federal office. I haven’t made a final decision about which office to seek, if I run," Massie said on X and his comeback bid.
Massie is known for being a libertarian, and he frequently voted against his own party on budgetary matters, and he has emerged as one of the foremost Republican skeptics of Israel and the ongoing Iran war.
