Trump currently favored to win 2024 election, according to 538 election forecast

Former President Donald Trump is leading an election forecast by the ABC News forecaster 538 for the first time.

Trump is currently favored to win the general election in November against President Joe Biden, according to 538's projection. 

"Trump wins 50 times out of 100," read the 538 main webpage on Monday. "Biden wins 49 times out of 100."

Trump currently has 271 projected electoral votes compared to 267 for Biden.

Trump did not lead a 538 election forecast in the 2016 or 2020 election cycles where he was running for president.

According to the official website, 538 "uses polling, economic and demographic data to explore likely election outcomes."
