Prominent pollster John McLaughlin said Wednesday that former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley is in the stages of "grief and denial" after coming in second place in the New Hampshire primary.

"Nikki Haley's kind of like – she's in the stages between denial and anger where she's going on to South Carolina ... and she wants to continue the campaign," McLaughlin said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show.

He said that the only person Haley is helping by staying in the GOP primary is President Joe Biden.

Former President Donald Trump won the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday, Haley came in second place, and Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis came in third despite suspending his campaign.

Haley made it clear after the primary that she would not drop out of the race.

McLaughlin said that Trump is doing very well in recent polls as the presidential election approaches.

"There's a Rasmussen Reports poll that was out last week," he said. "We're ahead of Joe Biden by eight points and Nikki Haley's losing by two points. So we saw her collapse in December, in the national polls against Joe Biden, and Donald Trump still ahead of Joe Biden."
