President Donald Trump is backing the reelection campaign of Rep. Tom Kean in New Jersey's 7th Congressional District primary election, as voters in the state go the polls Tuesday.

"Tom Kean has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election," Trump said This past weekend on Truth Social

Trump called Kean a "tremendous advocate of our America-first Agenda." He cited Kean's support for secure borders and American energy dominance, migrant crime prevention, cutting taxes and regulations, and championing of small businesses. 

Kean has not made any public appearances or cast a vote on the House floor since March 5. He says he's recovering and would return to a full schedule soon. 

Republicans are in a tough fight to keep their already narrow House majority over Democrats, with the final tally after the General Elections in November expected to the difference of a few seats. 

New Jersey's 7th District's election results have been narrowly divided between Democrats and Republicans. President Donald Trump won the district by one point in the 2024 presidential election, but Democrat Mikie Sherrill won the district by nearly two points in the 2025 governor's race. Kean won the district by five points in 2024.
