Former teacher Dan J. Sullivan, Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan, and Democratic challenger Mary Peltola will face off in the general election ballot in Alaska's Senate race, NBC News projects.

Republicans have accused Dan J. Sullivan of running on the Republican ticket to confuse voters in the key battleground race, a claim he has denied.

In Alaska's election system, the top four candidates, regardless of party, advance from the state's all-party primary to a ranked-choice general election, NBC News reported

Some voters end up ranking only one candidate, which could impact what is expected to be one ofthe closest races in the country this year.
