The liberal-leaning Wisconsin Supreme Court appears ready to overturn a ruling that banned the use of ballot drop boxes, which became a source of controversy during the 2020 election cycle.

Wisconsin is considered a battleground state. The latest polls show a close race in the state between former President Trump and President Biden.

Drop boxes were widely used across many states in the 2020 election during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A ruling from July 2022 said drop boxes could only be located in election clerk offices. Since that ruling, the court changed to a 4-3 liberal majority.

“What if we just got it wrong?” liberal Justice Jill Karofsky said of the July 2022 ruling, according to the Associated Press. “What if we made a mistake? Are we now supposed to just perpetuate that mistake into the future?”
