Elon Musk wants to remove headlines from news articles on X
Users will have the option to add their own text to posts they make, however.
Social media platform X, formerly Twitter, will soon remove headlines and subheads from news article links posted the platform, a change owner Elon Musk confirmed comes at his direction.
"This is coming from me directly. Will greatly improve the esthetics," Musk posted in response to news of the change. Under the revision, when a user posts a URL to a news article, it will merely populate the featured image without any additional text.
Users will have the option to add their own text to posts they make, however, according to Fortune. One source told the outlet that Musk was pushing for the change even in the face of opposition from advertisers.
The latest change follows the platform's rebranding as "X", the removal of the iconic bird logo, and Musk's announcement that he plans to remove the block feature from the platform as well.
"Block is going to be deleted as a 'feature', except for DMs," he said earlier this month.
