U.S. Oil and Gas Association President Tim Stewart on Monday said that he supports former President Donald Trump's energy agenda for another term, which includes making the country a dominant energy producer.

The agenda, which was published on Sunday, was approved by the Republican National Committee, and vowed to make "America Energy Independent, and then Energy Dominant," by increasing energy production, "streamlin[ing] permits, and end[ing] market-distorting restrictions on Oil, Natural Gas, and Coal."

Stewart said the association supports Trump's policies because they are "common sense" policies that will make the American economy stronger.

"It's really based on three simple things ... let's end energy poverty in America, let's make energy accessible and affordable and clean and reliable for everybody, and to do that, you have to produce more of everything," Stewart said on the "Just The News, No Noise" tv show. "If you do that, gosh dangit, you provide for a really strong economy, and you provide for middle and lower class families to be able to do what they need to do. It just makes a lot of sense."

Stewart said a lot of Americans are currently being forced to decide whether to buy groceries or put gas in the car, which is not how things should be in the U.S., as a global energy superpower.

"My industry does everything we can but sometimes we got our foot nailed to the floor through regulations and other things," Stewart said. "The whole purpose of this contract is to educate decision makers and elected officials that the actions they're taking, sometimes are causing a lot of damage further down the line, and we want to help American families."

The RNC platform also includes a strong emphasis on border security, inflation, and abortion, which voters have said are top concerns this election.
