GE Vernova, the company that manufactured a blade that broke loose from a turbine off the coast of Nantucket in July, is now trying to recover the blade from the bottom of the ocean.

Ever since the incident, pieces of the 300-foot blade have been washing up on the shores of Nantucket, and some debris has been seen as far away as Rhode Island and Montauk, New York.

GE Vernova dispatched two vessels to retrieve the damages blade from the ocean floor on Sunday, Boston.com reports. The first piece was recovered smoothly, the company told a local board, and recovery operations are continuing through the week.

The company blamed the blade failure on a manufacturing deviation
