Category 1 Hurricane Debby makes landfall in Florida

Hurricane Debby made landfall Monday morning on Florida's Big Bend coast, bringing heavy rains and the potential for catastrophic flooding and a life-threatening storm surge.

The storm made landfall at about 7:20 a.m. local time as a Category 1 hurricane and is now moving slowly across the northern part of the state, according to the Associated Press.

The storm has winds of 80 mph and is moving at 10 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.
