Hurricane Debby made landfall Monday morning on Florida's Big Bend coast, bringing heavy rains and the potential for catastrophic flooding and a life-threatening storm surge.

The storm made landfall at about 7:20 a.m. local time as a Category 1 hurricane and is now moving slowly across the northern part of the state, according to the Associated Press.
