World-renowned climate activist Greta Thunberg has been charged with disobeying a police order during a climate change protest in Sweden and is "on trial" for her alleged crime, according to the Swedish outlet Sydsvenskan.

The reported charge against the 20-year-old climate alarmist stems from June 19, when Thunberg and her allies were ordered by police to disband their climate protest in the city of Malmo where the group blocked oil trucks from driving in a port terminal.

In an Instagram post about the protest, Thunberg posted photos of the oil blockade, writing in her caption, "The climate crisis is already a matter of life and death for countless people. We chose to not be bystanders, and instead physically stop the fossil fuel infrastructure."

Sydsvenskan wrote that a police officer stated one individual "climbed on top of a truck" while others stopped 30 more oil tankers in their tracks. After ordering protesters to move, several — including Thunberg — reportedly refused and had to be escorted away.

Thunberg's charge could result in a fine or up to half a year in prison, according to Reuters. Her trial is set for July.
