The massive heat wave that is occurring in multiple states is expected to continue with 130 million people under heat advisories.

Temperatures are expected to be 15-30 degrees higher than average in the affected areas, according to The Hill.

The Pacific Northwest and the mid-Atlantic region are expected to be hit hard. The National Weather Service said the temperature will not be below 100 degrees Fahrenheit in places like western Nevada and northeastern California.

The Associated Press reports that on the East coast, Maryland could see temperatures up to 110 degrees.

President Joe Biden has introduced national work standards to protect American workers from extreme heat.

If his proposal passes, it would mandate employers to give rest breaks and access to shade and water for those who work in conditions of extreme heat.
