Wildfires continue to consume vast acreage across Northern California as well as other parts of the country.

The Caldor Fire in Northern California has now covered 154 square miles of land in the northern Sierra Nevada region since last week, the Associated Press reported, and officials said Sunday there was zero containment of the blaze.

This summer's wildfires have destroyed up to 700 homes while leaving 13,000 residents in nearby communities under threat, according to the outlet.

"We know this fire has done things that nobody could have predicted, but that's how firefighting has been in the state this year," Eldorado National Forest Supervisor Chief Jeff Marsolais said.

There are currently 94 active wildfires occurring across the country, according to the National Interagency Fire Center.

Nine national forests have been closed down due to the threat of wildfires, the AP noted.

A bikini-clad woman was charged with arson in another wildfire not far from South Lake Tahoe.
