U.S. economy grew at 2.8% rate in the second quarter, exceeding expectations

The U.S. economy grew 2.8% in the second quarter, compared to the same period last year, the Bureau of Economic Analysis reported Thursday.

Economists forecast the measure, the country's Gross Domestic Product, for this quarter would be about 2%.

The economy grew in the first quarter of this year at an annualized rate of 1.4%, according to Yahoo Finance.
