A former Republican congresswoman is urging the GOP to double down on its efforts to win over Latino voters from the Democrats.

Former Texas GOP Rep. Myra Flores won office in 2022 after a special election to represent the state's 34th Congressional District, which directly borders Mexico. She later failed to win a full term in the November 2022 midterms.

Speaking on the "Just the News, No Noise" television show on Friday, she encouraged Republican lawmakers to be bold on social issues and conservative values, as many members of the Latino community share them.

"Don't be afraid to talk about faith, especially our faith in God," she said. "Don't be afraid to talk about family values, because that is who we are. It's in our DNA."

"Our values and the faith that we have in God is first, we will not put those values aside for no political party," Flores continued. "And I think that just like the far left embraces the devil. Now we need to embrace our faith as well."

"So we need to be loud and clear; we can no longer stay silent. So I ask the Republican Party, be loud and be brave and have the backbone to stand on on our biblical values that made this country so great," she added.

Flores further excoriated President Joe Biden for claiming that the southern border is secure amid a major surge in illegal migration, saying "It's personally very frustrating. My husband is a border patrol agent. And, you know, I took his safety for granted for a long time."

"And under this administration, I'm worried about him and all our border patrol agents every single day. And our border patrol agents are our family but they're exhausted," she continued. "They're tired, they're not able to track down the thousands and thousands of people coming in our country illegally, because the bad administration's policies encourage people to come here to this country illegally knowing that it's empowering the Mexican cartel."

She further lamented the dangerous situation for would-be migrants traveling to the use, highlighting the cartel's trafficking efforts and the potential to suffer trauma during the trip.
