House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy on Thursday delivered a fiery speech deriding Democratic policies and warning of potential catastrophe should Republicans fail to claim the House majority in the midterms.

“We are losing our safety, our prosperity, and our freedom,” he said, according to the Washington Times. “The world is more dangerous, more unstable, and more chaotic. Peace and security have been replaced by hostility and aggression. This is the record of Joe Biden. This is the record of Democrat control.”

“Joe Biden is right,” McCarthy continued, echoing similar comments from Biden. “Democracy is on the ballot in November, and Joe Biden and the radical left in Washington are dismantling Americans’ democracy before our very eyes.”

The California Republican spoke in opposition to President Joe Biden's "soul of the nation" speech Thursday evening. Biden has come under fire in recent days for his labelling of the Trump movement as being "like semi-fascism."

"What we’re seeing now is the beginning or the death knell of an extreme MAGA philosophy," Biden said. "It’s not just Trump, it’s the entire philosophy that underpins the – I’m going to say something, it’s like semi-fascism."

McCarthy meanwhile, asserted that a Democrat-run America would spiral into chaos.

“I, along with every Republican running for Congress this year, share your unwavering conviction that we must change the direction in Washington before it is too late,” he concluded.
