Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott this week excoriated the Biden administration for its handling of the migration surge at the southern border after the White House derided his busing of migrants to the nation's capital.

"The White House is full of a bunch of hypocrites, led by the Hypocrite-in-Chief. Instead of their hypocritical complaints about Texas providing much-needed relief to our overrun and overwhelmed border communities, President Biden and Border Czar Harris need to step up and do their jobs to secure the border — something they continue failing to do," a spokesperson for the governor told reporters.

The administration previously called the move a "cruel, dangerous and shameful stunt," according to the Washington Times.

Abbott, along with Arizona Republican Gov. Doug Ducey, have been busing illegal migrants to sanctuary cities and left-wing outposts such as Chicago, New York City and Washington, D.C., in a bid to highlight the consequences of the Biden administration's lax approach to immigration enforcement.

The Texas Republican tweeted on Wednesday that his state had bused over 15,900 migrants to sanctuary cities, including more than 8,900 to D.C., more than 4,900 to New York City, more than 1,500 to Chicago, and more than 690 to Philadelphia.

"As Biden does nothing, Texas is taking unprecedented action to provide relief to our overwhelmed border communities," he continued.

The nation's southern border is currently grappling with an unprecedented surge in illegal migration, with 2.4 million migrants crossing over in fiscal year 2022 alone and nearly 4 million doing so since President Joe Biden took office.
