Hacking group targets U.S. state governments that outlaw abortion following Roe repeal

A hacker group has appeared to announce a targeted campaign against U.S. government entities that seek to regulate abortion in the United States, promising to crack into "government servers" of "states with anti-abortion laws." 

The group, SiegedSec, has reportedly been active on some darkweb severs, posting large amounts of information stolen from state governments in Kentucky and Arkansas, both of which have sharply curtailed abortion in the wake of last week's repeal of Roe v. Wade.

The group's apparent Twitter account had been suspended as of Wednesday afternoon, but its hacking activity was still circulating around the Internet, with censored documents showing what appeared to be large amounts of stolen files posted to the Internet. 

In a post circulated on some social media forums, the group said it was waging the campaign “as added pressure to the U.S. government.”

“The attacks will continue!” the group said. “Our main targets are any pro-life entitites, including government servers of the states with anti-abortion laws.”

The overturning of Roe v. Wade sent abortion regulation decisions back to the individual states, many of which quickly moved to proscribe abortion at various levels following the ruling's repeal.
