Rhode Island Gov. McKee narrowly survives primary challenge
In the House, Democratic Rep. David Cicilline ran unopposed in his primary for the 1st Congressional District, as did his Republican challenger, Allen Waters.
Rhode Island Democratic Gov. Daniel McKee narrowly won his party primary against businesswoman Helena Foulkes and will go on to seek a full term in November.
McKee won against Foulkes and three other candidates with 32.8% of the vote, according to the Associated Press. McKee ascended to the office in 2021 after then-Gov. Gina Raimondo resigned to join the Biden administration. He was previously lieutenant governor. Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea finished third.
McKee will face Ashley Kalus, who won the Republican primary with 83.7% of the vote.
In the House, Democratic Rep. David Cicilline ran unopposed in his primary for the 1st Congressional District, as did his Republican challenger, Allen Waters.
Republican Allan Fung, who is running in the Second District, also had that luxury, though Seth Magaziner ultimately emerged victorious in a crowded Democratic primary to replace retiring Rep. James Langevin.
