The House Ethics Committee on Monday announced an investigation into Rep. Jimmy Gomez, D-Calif., over alleged sexual misconduct.

The probe marks the latest incident of the panel exploring similar allegations against lawmakers. Recent probes include Rep. Max Miller, R-Ohio, who requested a probe into himself in a bid to clear his name, and now-former Rep. Chuck Edwards, R-N.C., who was found to have given two staffers inappropriate gifts.

Gomez's office told CNN that he would “cooperate with any Ethics Committee inquiry and provide it with whatever information it might need.”

He previously admitted to having made "personal mistakes outside [his] marriage," but insisted he had not violated any House ethics guidelines or broken the law.
