Kemp warns U.S. 'cannot afford' four years of Harris as Trump hints at mending fences
Kemp's post followed Trump on Thursday expressing hope that he and the governor could restore their relationship during a press conference at Mar-a-Lago.
Gov. Brian Kemp, R-Ga., on Friday warned that the United States "cannot afford" four more years of the Democrats in the White House in a video post that comes in the wake of former President Donald Trump expressing openness to repairing the relationship between the two.
"In my opinion, regardless of all the different things that have happened, we cannot afford four more years of the Biden-Harris agenda, and now the Harris-Walz agenda, which I think would be even more radical," Kemp said in a video posted to X.
Kemp's post followed Trump on Thursday expressing hope that he and the governor could restore their relationship during a press conference at Mar-a-Lago.
"With that being said, I hope we can repair it, but if we don't, the people are still the people, and they're going to vote. We're leading in Georgia by a lot," Trump said. "I have great relationships in Georgia, I do too, but not with the governor. I've never understood it. When you get somebody elected, they're supposed to like you."
"Yeah, I'd love to see it get repaired. I think that if we don't win Georgia, Georgia is a big is a big win is a big state," he added.
Trump backed Kemp's 2018 gubernatorial bid, though the pair fell out after the 2020 election over his election fraud claims. Georgia was among the pivotal states at the center of the allegations.
