Lara Trump out from Fox News contributor gig after father-in-law's 2024 announcement

Lara Trump is no longer a paid contributor at Fox News following her father-in-law's announcement that he would seek the presidency in 2024.

Former President Donald Trump made his campaign announcement in mid-November. Fox News protocol does not allow contributors to be paid if they are directly associated with an active candidate for office, according to the Washington Times.

Lara Trump, who is the 45th president's daughter-in-law by virtue of her marriage to his son Eric, originally joined the network in 2021. Her last paid appearance was on Nov. 15.

She has not been barred from the network and is eligible to appear on its programs in an unpaid capacity.

"We appreciate Lara's valuable contributions across Fox News Media programming," Fox News said of her departure.

The LA Times, which was the first to report Trump's departure from the network, observed that while the end of her employment was said to be a protocol decision, it comes as other Fox Corporation outlets, including the New York Post and Wall Street Journal, have been critical of her father-in-law's 2024 plans.

The network will not, however, become devoid of Trump administration alumni, with former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany serving as a co-host of "Outnumbered" and former adviser Kellyanne Conway acting as a contributor.
