Mamdani endorses Kathy Hochul for NY governor
She first assumed office in 2021 after the resignation of Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y., and was elected to a full term in 2022.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Thursday endorsed Gov. Kathy Hochul, D-N.Y., for reelection, handing her a boost from her left flank ahead of the primary contest.
"I'm endorsing Gov. [Kathy Hochul] because she's someone willing to engage in honest dialogue that delivers results.
Along with the movement that powered our campaign, it's how we secured a historic agreement on childcare. And we're just getting started," he posted on X.
Hochul is running against Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado, D-N.Y., for the Democratic nomination. She first assumed office in 2021 after the resignation of Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y., and was elected to a full term in 2022.
Her tenure has seen her approval levels fluctuate and the primary is expected to be somewhat competitive.
