Marjorie Taylor Greene demands Manhattan DA Bragg be arrested for 'prosecutorial misconduct'
Trump announced on Saturday that he expected to be arrested on Tuesday in connection with the case.
Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Thursday called for the arrest of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, claiming he withheld exculpatory evidence from a grand jury while seeking charges against former President Donald Trump.
"Now it’s time to arrest Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg for prosecutorial misconduct after hiding hundreds of pages of exculpatory evidence!" she tweeted. "Bragg is on the verge of indicting an innocent former President and top Presidential candidate against the opposing ruling party."
"Bragg is breaking the law and trying to incite civil unrest with his Soros funded political war. Hold him accountable!" she urged.
Bragg is currently investigating an incident in which former Trump attorney Michael Cohen paid Stormy Daniels $130,000 in 2016 ahead of the presidential election that Trump won.
Trump announced on Saturday that he expected to be arrested on Tuesday in connection with the case, though that development has not yet occurred. His statement drew outrage from Republicans who have accused Bragg of pursuing a political investigation.
One possible charge against Trump involves falsifying legal records and the notion that the payment to Daniels may have been a campaign finance violation. Legal experts such as George Washington University Law Professor Jonathan Turley have denounced the case as a farce and noted that federal prosecutors previously opted against pursuing it.
Greene appeared to reference comments from Robert Costello, a one-time advisor to Cohen, who told the grand jury on Monday that he provided the prosecution with hundreds of emails but that they had selectively presented materials from those emails to the jurors, per The Hill.
Greene's call comes the same day that Trump himself demanded the removal of Bragg from office, as well as the ousting of several other figures pursuing investigations against him.
"District Attorney Bragg is a danger to our Country, and should be removed immediately, along with Radical Lunatic Bombthrower Jack Smith, who is harassing and intimidating innocent people at levels not seen before, 'Get Trump' Letitia James, the worst Attorney General in the United States, and Atlanta D.A. Fani Willis, who is trying to make PERFECT phone calls into a plot to destroy America, but reigns over the most violent Crime Scene in America, and does nothing about it!" he posted on Truth Social.
