NC Rep. Manning has broken sternum after car wreck, office says
She and an aide were injured on Thursday while en route to an event in her constituency.
North Carolina Democratic Rep. Kathy Manning has returned home and is recovering from a broken sternum and bone in her foot after sustaining the injuries in a car accident earlier this week.
Manning's office confirmed her departure from the hospital, the Associated Press reported. She and an aide were injured on Thursday while en route to an event in her constituency.
"Rep. Manning and a member of her staff were in a car accident this morning in Greensboro, North Carolina on the way to a district event. They sustained non life-threatening injuries, were taken to the hospital, and have been discharged," her official account tweeted on Thursday. Manning is in her second term.
The wreck saw three cars impacted after a driver reportedly failed to yield while making a left turn.
"She is very grateful for all the kind words, prayers and well wishes she has received," Manning's office stated.
