Pete Ricketts endorses his wife for state education post

Despite their own differences, Shore said Ricketts had been "supportive" of her aspirations.

Sen. Pete Ricketts, R-Neb., endorsed his wife, Susanne Shore, for a post on the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.

Shore, a Democrat, has long quarreled with her husband over politics and the two regularly donate to opposing parties, Politico reported. Ricketts, however, opined that his wife would be his "one Democrat exception" to a full Republican slate.

Despite their own differences, Shore said Ricketts had been "supportive" of her aspirations. She is seeking the post left open by Elizabeth O'Connor, who resigned over a public DUI scandal.

Ricketts is running against independent candidate Dan Osborn.
