Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner appears poised to lock up his party's nomination, with a recent poll showing him well ahead of Gov. Janet Mills, D-Maine, for the party nod.

Platner, a left-wing outsider candidate, has managed to carve out a double-digit lead over Mills in the Democratic nomination. In the latest University of New Hampshire Pine Tree State poll, Platner led Mills 64% to 26% in the party primary. Those figures represent only a modest shift from the survey's October iteration, when Platner led Mills 58% to 24%.

In the general election, Platner led Collins 49% to 38%, while Mills edged her out with 41% to 40%. The data is sure to prove a boon for Platner ahead of the Democratic primary. Platner's campaign, moreover, reshared the polling results, with a limited statement.

"NEW POLL from the University of New Hampshire's Pine Tree Poll. It's...", the account posted, hinting that the results were self-explanatory.

Conducted February 12-16, the survey questioned 1,120 likely voters in Maine and has a margin of error of +/- 2.9%.
